Cara Bean is a cartoonist and art teacher from the Boston area. She pursues poetic introspection, and quirky storytelling through comics. Cara is currently creating a comic for children about a late-blooming caterpillar named Munch.

LJ-Baptiste is an artist from Dorchester, MA. His current work is a webcomic series entitled COMIXSCAPE, which originated on DigBoston’s Sunday Comics Project back in 2013. It’s about the absurd adventures of a young boy and his pet raccoon in his new town.

Ben Rutberg is a college freshman and aspiring cartoonist interested in finding the truth in small things. He has made two comic books, “Bildungsrobot!” and “The Big Fish,” and is currently working on two more, which he is not at liberty to talk about. He’s sure you’ll understand. Josh Dahl has been involved with making and teaching comic books for most of his life.
Most recently he has written and self-published Rapid City comics under the MONOLITH banner, but he has also worked with Big Blue, Bad Kids Press, and ComicsWork. As part of his work with ComicsWork, Josh presented at The 20th Anniversary of the Graphic Novel Conference at UMass Amherst. Josh lives in Boston, and when not making comics, he teaches at a secure detention facility for teenage boys, and slowly pursues a Master’s Degree in creative writing. E. J. Barnes is a comics artist and writer who has worked on historical comics, editorial cartooning, and animation. She has taught cartooning at the Amigos Cambridgeport Community School and the Cambridge Center for Adult Education. She opens her home studio to the public during Cambridge Open Studios. Jonathan Hayes is an illustrator based out of Somerville. His interest in art began with drawing on his bedroom wall to making comic books as an adult. Jon also held strong interests in performing arts and writing. He is a member of the Boston Comics Roundtable, a comic book collective of creators. Jon is working on self publishing several titles ranging from children’s comics to dark fantasy.

John Carvajal is an artist currently living in Norwood, MA. He received his BFA from Ringling College of Art and Design and his MFA from The Center for Cartoon Studies. His work has been published in multiple anthologies including Maple Key Vol. 2, Strangelet Vol 1.1, and a collaboration with Aaron Humphreys in Compositional Studies Vol. 43.1. Carvajal has also exhibited his work in the UK, Canada, and the US at various comic festivals. Maria Photinakis is an illustrator, cartoonist, painter and giant Star Trek nerd who hopes someday she’ll figure out what she wants to be when she grows up. In the meantime, she lives in Waltham with her husband and 2 fluffy cats.
Catalina Rufin is a 23 year old Boston-area cartoonist and illustrator. Her comics are about punk fairies, astronaut kids, and her interest in Scottish culture. She has made two comics for the BCR anthologies In A Single Bound #3 and Spellbound, and collaborated with author Tony McMillen on the graphic novel Oblivion Suite, about a 70s rock band. ”

Roho is an artist, writer and designer with a passion for print. He joined Boston Comics Roundtable shortly after moving to Cambridge in 2008. There contributed to the last three issues of Inbound as well as publishing the Outbound and Hellbound anthologies. He is hard at work in a wide range or new comics projects if you see him out there in the world he would love to tell you all about them.

Dan Mazur is an independent cartoonist, editor, publisher and author who lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts. His comics have appeared in numerous anthologies, and his Cold Wind (with Jesse Lonergan), was named a notable in The Best American Comics of 2013. He is the co-writer with Alexander Danner of Comics: A Global History, 1968 to the Present. He is co-founder of the Boston Comics Roundtable, and MICE: the Massachusetts Independent Comics Expo, and founder of Ninth Art Press, as small press devoted to comics and comics anthologies, which has recently published SubCultures: a Comics Anthology.

Nina Tobin is currently in her 15th year of teaching. She received a B.A. in Art History, Theology and Education from Regis College, and a Master’s degree in Special Education through Lesley University. Nina has been a member of the Museum of Fine Arts Educator Advisory Board since 2008, serving as a speaker for the Autism Museum Accessibility Panel in 2014. She is author and presenter of a TED talk titled, “Thinking Socially,” a former educator for the Boston Public Schools, and former Chairperson of the Westwood Chapter of SEPAC. She has worked with MGH’s YouthCare/Aspire Program since 2007, most recently serving as a contributor developing Brain-Based Social Pragmatics curriculum, and as a Site Director for their Summer Camp program. She has also delivered numerous presentations to parents and educators on using the fine arts, universal design, and multiple intelligences in all academic content areas. Outside of school, Mrs. Tobin spends her time with her husband and sons, visiting museums, painting, illustrating, and singing professionally with the Lost Cosmonauts. She enjoys teaching Art, Music, Theater, as well as Social Pragmatics and Applied Sociology at the Tremont School.
Brendan Tobin is an illustrator/animator who worked in the New York animation industry and currently is employed as a marketing designer, as well as hosting a comics class for middle school students. He enjoys making comics and cartoons and regularly posts them on his blog, http://brendantobin.blogspot.com. Brendan lives in Norwood, Ma with his beautiful wife and amazing stepsons.
Heide Solbrig, scholar, filmmaker, illustrator, and media artist is the sole proprietor of ‘Whatever Floats Your Boat Productions. WFYB focuses upon transmedia documentary production, currently working on sexuality education in collaboration with Partners’ in Sex Education. Other projects include producing an interview archive of residents’ experience at ‘The Water Tower Place’ a low-income housing project in St. Louis, Missouri, and producing a vlog series on economic education. Solbrig’s films, ‘Float’(2003) and ‘Man and the Middle Class’(2013) each tell intimate political economies of an era. Her current media-art project, The Dandelion King is a graphic novel and film series documenting Solbrig’s childhood in the 1970’s. Solbrig’s productions use personal storytelling in multiple mediums and include experimental montage combining historical footage, interview, illustration/animation and personal-essay narration.
