  • “GULP! A Monster Anthology for Kids”

    The BCR’s Roho, along with many great contributors, is proud to announce their new anthology. We’ve seen it in person, and it is totally awesome. Read the details below.

    The Boston Comics Roundtable, in partnership with River Bird Comics, is pleased to announce the publication of GULP!, an all-ages anthology. GULP! will debuted September 28 at the fourth annual MICE (Massachusetts Independent Comics Expo), and be available at select comics shops in the region. The editorial team for GULP! includes the creators of Heeby Jeeby Comix and cartoonists on Nickelodeon Magazine, Bob Flynn and Dan Moynihan. This volume was designed and produced by Roho, owner/publisher of River Bird Comics and creator of Hellbound.

  • Superheroes for Boston and Beyond

    The Boston Comics Roundtable and Ninth Art Press announce a new anthology comic book:

    IN A SINGLE BOUND: Superheroes for Greater Boston and Beyond

    First there was Inbound, then Outbound, Hellbound and now… In a Single Bound, the Boston Comics Roundtable’s anthology dedicated to superhero stories set in (and around) Boston. Featuring  all-original characters created by local artists and writers, In a Single Bound presents superheroes with an independent comics flavor, but suitable for readers of all ages. True to the eclectic spirit of the Roundtable – a collective of Boston-area cartoonists founded in 2006 – the eight stores in the collection cover a wide range of tones: from satire, to light-hearted adventure, to nostalgic elegy.   • Hellbound 3 premieres at MICE 2012

    It’s that time again. As MICE and Halloween approach, the horror masters of Boston are back with another Hellbound comics anthology. Here’s the official word:

    “The Art Edition features a wraparound full color cover nearly a yard long, designed by Roho and featuring art by Jerel Dye. This volume continues in the same horrifying tradition with eleven chilling tales that examine the darkness that lies within all of us. These gruesome narratives feature some of New England’s best artists and writers: a quick taste of zombies, a story set in a mortuary, the dark side of high-school overachievers. Even baseball gets the horror treatment, The creators work in a variety of styles: totally black backgrounds, light and airy hiding terror underneath, a nightmarish character sketch, and some of the artist explore the woods at night. Also two nearly wordless stories, with one story taking place on a whaling ship and the other in a modern city. Closing out the volume with the chilling words of a criminal.   • Hellbound II Launch Party!

    The Boston Comics Roundtable will be horrifying readers again this Halloween with the second installment of its Hellbound anthology of independent horror comics written and drawn by local creators. All comics creators, fans, and friends are invited to celebrate the premiere of the new book at a comics-themed Halloween Party Friday, October 28 at 7:00 P.M. at Tommy Doyle’s in Harvard Square:

  • MICE 2011

    The Massachusetts Independent Comics Expo, a show dedicated to independent, alternative, small-press and self-published comics, webcomics and ‘zines, is happening September 24th, 2011 (10am to 6pm).  MICE is a collaboration between The Boston Comics Roundtable and the Art Institute of Boston, and will feature over 80 exhibitors and a full day of comic-related programming with panels and workshops.  For its second year, MICE 2011 has moved to a new venue conveniently next to Porter Square station:
