Salty Old Cook

PAGE 1, PANEL 1:

The SALTY OLD COOK and his KIND ASSISTANT are camping on the side of the road, tending to a fire near their food truck. A sign reading “Now exiting Colorado,”

PAGE 1, PANEL 2:

The SALTY OLD COOK finishes recalling the tale of when he was struck by lightning while stroking his beard. The KIND ASSISTANT laughs at his tale as she feels in never gets old. The SALTY OLD COOK has a katana at his side somewhat obscured.

PAGE 1, PANEL 3:

The KIND ASSISTANT asks the SALTY OLD COOK where the FOOLISH ASSISTANT is with a concerned expression. The SALTY OLD COOK rolls his eye, as he is missing one.

PAGE 1, PANEL 4

Both the KIND ASSISTANT and the SALTY OLD COOK look forward towards the woods as the FOOLISH ASSISTANT yells off panel.

PAGE 1, PANEL 5

The FOOLISH ASSISTANT continues to scream his lungs out, desperately grasping various vegetables and mushrooms found in the forest as a massive bear roars giving chase.

PAGE 1, PANEL 6

The SALTY OLD COOK stands with a look of dead seriousness on his face.

PAGE 2, PANEL 1

The SALTY OLD COOK’s hand is seen drawing his katana.

PAGE 2, PANEL 2

The SALTY OLD COOK charges towards the bear as the FOOLISH ASSISTANT dives out of the way panicking.

PAGE 2, PANEL 3

The SALTY OLD COOK and the bear roar at each other face to face. The bear preparing to claw the SALTY OLD COOK.

PAGE 2, PANEL 4

The SALTY OLD COOK and the bear pass by each other in a silhouette over the moon lit forest. The SALTY OLD COOK’s blade drawn in a way as if it had made a strike.

PAGE 2, PANEL 5

The same silhouette as PAGE 2, PANEL 4, but blood is bursting out of the bear in a perfect line.

PAGE 2, PANEL 6

The bear is dead on the ground and the back of the SALTY OLD COOK’s shirt got ripped by the bears claws revealing a partly obstructed Yakuza style back tattoo of some kind of powerful Yokai. Aside from that, the SALTY OLD COOK is unharmed.

 

PAGE 3, PANEL 1

A close-up of the mushroom, vegetable and bear meat stew that the SALTY OLD COOK had whipped up.  A ladle being taken out of the pot with the SALTY OLD COOK’s hand and being poured into the FOOLISH ASSISTANT’s bowl.

PAGE 3, PANEL 2

The SALTY OLD COOK, the KIND ASSISTANT and the FOOLISH ASSISTANT all happily eat their meal at their makeshift camp site. The bear’s pelt can be seen on the roof of the food truck. Any other parts of the bear are assumed to be discarded and given a respectful burial. The SALTY OLD COOK is now shirtless, and the tattoo is now fully visible.

PAGE 3, PANEL 3

The KIND ASSISTANT looks on at the SALTY OLD COOK inquisitively, and asks him about his back tatoo. The FOOLISH ASSISTANT looks at the KIND ASSISTANT and expresses his agreement in being curious as well.

PAGE 3, PANEL 4

The SALTY OLD COOK looks onward with a serious look on his face as if he was trying to block out some bad memories. He is holding his stew bowl.

PAGE 3, PANEL 5

The SALTY OLD COOK sips from his spoon. Expression from PAGE 3, PANEL 4 completely unchanged.

 

PAGE 3, PANEL 6

The SALTY OLD COOK gives a kindly warm smile as he places the spoon back in the bowl. He expresses that he will talk about it another time in a very polite manner.
