CHARACTERS
- BUTTON: Your average cat. Moderately chubby but not too big. Brown and white Maine coon.
- CHARLIE: Button’s human. They are nonbinary and androgynous-looking, with short hair and hornrimmed glasses. They are wearing baggy flannel pajamas and slippers.
PAGE 1
Panel 1: We meet BUTTON, who is stretched out snoozing in the sunlight. She is situated in the living room, in the middle of the room. Living room furniture surrounds her.
Panel 2: An off-panel shout causes BUTTON to jerk awake, but not awake enough to stand up. She is mildly annoyed at whoever rudely interrupted her nap.
Panel 3: View from behind BUTTON, into the entrance to the kitchen (BUTTON in the foreground and the kitchen is the main point of interest). We see CHARLIE standing on a dining room chair, shouting at a speck on the ground. They are brandishing one of their slippers like a weapon.
Panel 4: BUTTON is clearly unphased by the events unfolding in the kitchen. She yawns widely. The shouting continues off-panel.
Panel 5: BUTTON’s stomach growls loudly. She is now much more alert and concerned than she was before. Her ears fold back flat, her eyes are wide, and her fur stands on end.
PAGE 2
Panel 1: BUTTON has leapt to her feet and is running with determination. Her fur is still standing on end and her ears are still folded back.
Panel 2: View of BUTTON’s target item: a wand toy with feathers on the end and a dangling toy (like this: https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/cat/cat-toys/cat-teasers-and-wands/our-pets-play-n-squeak-bird-wand-cat-toy)
Panel 3: BUTTON has grabbed the wand in her mouth and is leaping gracefully. Lots of bright lights and magical sparkles surround her.
Panel 4: BUTTON lands majestically from her leap, ending in the kitchen, and she has transformed into a glorious magical cat. Her collar is glowing eerily and has a diamond-shaped star amulet (don’t know how else to describe it but like this: https://abeon-hosting.com/images/diamond-shape-clipart-star-1.jpg). She has a bloodthirsty look on her face.
PAGE 3
Panel 1: BUTTON crouches low, situated between the spider on the ground and CHARLIE on the chair, taking a defensive stance. Her bottom is in the air and she hisses.
Panel 2: BUTTON’s bottom wiggles in one direction.
Panel 3: BUTTON’s bottom wiggles in the other direction.
Panel 4: View from the spider’s perspective, facing toward BUTTON. BUTTON is huge and is in mid-pounce with a cutely sadistic look on her face.
Panel 5: BUTTON has snatched the spider in her mouth, and its legs dangle out. She is proudly showing off her victory to CHARLIE, who pats BUTTON on the head with one hand while giving her food with the other hand.
