The BCR was honored by the presence of Portland Oregon “tall ship sailor-turned-cartoonist” Lucy Bellwood at last night’s meeting. She’s in town working on a comic about the restoration of the Charles W. Morgan at Mystic Seaport, and will be reading/signing at Trident Books this Monday: 338 Newbury Street in Boston, 7 pm. Let’s go!
At the regular BCR meeting on Thursday, July 17th at 7:30, Hellbound publisher and BCR regular Roho will give a demo and run a workshop on low-fi, DYI mini-comic making. Learn how to put together a comic with only paper, pencil, glue (and access to a home printer or photocopier). Hands-on exercises included in the low price of $0 for this event.
The Cambridge Public Library welcomes Jesse Lonergan and Joel Gill, two successful graphic novelists, to speak about their craft and their new books, All Star and Strange Fruit v.1: Uncelebrated Narratives from Black History. The event will be held Wednesday, June 25 at 6:30pm.
The Massachusetts Independent Comics Expo is a free event showcasing the best in local comics September 28th & 29th. MICE 2013 will feature 150 comic creators in our exhibition area, present lively panel discussions, and invite attendees to participate in creative workshops all weekend long!
